Gian Luigi Delpin – VISIONS AND TRANSITIONS

In the eyes of Gian Luigi Delpin the universe is not what it appears to most. It is entirely present, continuous and fragmented, in a way in which it is possible for its elements to emerge in a seething magma of atmospheres, images and symbols. This is the “seer” author, who does not stop at the first layer of the visible nor at the second, because he realized that the layers, let’s call them that, are infinite. The “faber” painter lives with him, the one who dedicates himself to a meticulous recomposition of the universe through colors and materials on the canvas according to a personal path.

This meeting makes Delpin a complete artist, who combines the unbridled play of creation (which continues in the choice of titles) with a solid technique, attentive to detail, in which nothing is left to chance. In the “seer”, irony and a taste for the absurd and the paradoxical are the map for orienting oneself in a chaotic, maze-like and Babel-like world. The basis of this recomposition is attention to sensory experience. The images of are to be seen at different distances, savored in sips, not swallowed. From the overall vision you can move on to scrutinize the small areas thanks to attention to the materiality of the work, rendered using building materials, waxes or resins, which create free ripples or regular grooves, pieces like a mosaic. And finally the choice of colours, which can be applied traditionally with a brush or airbrush, in search of new effects, also passing through the ultraviolet spectrum. If a strange psychedelic paradise comes to mind, you’re probably on the right path.
